Evening Desert Safari Abu Dhabi: Complete Guide for First-Timers

The evening desert safari in Abu Dhabi is the number one experience for visitors to the UAE capital — and for good reason. In one afternoon you get thrilling dune bashing, a golden sunset over the red dunes of Al Khatim, a camel ride and a BBQ dinner with live shows under the stars. Here is everything you need to know before you book.

How the Evening Unfolds

We pick you up from your hotel or home in Abu Dhabi in the afternoon and drive to the red dunes of Al Khatim. After dune bashing and a sunset photo stop you arrive at camp for dinner and live shows, and we drive you back to your hotel at the end of the evening.

What Is Included?

  • 4x4 pickup and drop-off from your location in Abu Dhabi
  • Around 30–45 minutes of dune bashing in a Toyota Land Cruiser
  • Sunset photo stop, short camel ride and sandboarding
  • Arabic coffee, dates, henna painting and soft drinks at camp
  • BBQ buffet dinner with vegetarian options
  • Tanoura dance, belly dance and fire show

Is Dune Bashing Safe?

Yes — when you go with licensed drivers and well-maintained vehicles. Our Land Cruisers have roll cages and seatbelts on every seat, and drivers are trained for desert driving. Dune bashing is not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with back, neck or heart problems; tell us in advance and we will keep the drive gentle.

What to Wear on an Evening Safari

Choose light, comfortable clothes, closed shoes or sandals, sunglasses and a scarf to protect against sand. From November to March, evenings in the desert get cool, so pack a light jacket.

How Much Does It Cost?

Our Evening Desert Safari Abu Dhabi costs AED 149 per person including pickup, dinner and all shows. Want more comfort? Compare the VIP and private options on our packages page.

Tips for the Best Experience

  • Eat a light lunch before dune bashing to avoid motion sickness.
  • Keep your phone charged for sunset photos — the light is best 20 minutes before sunset.
  • Book at least a day ahead in the busy season (October to April).
